For quite some time I have been taking photos of this mountain due east of me. I am fascinated by how the sun appears to move north to a point on the horizon, stops, retreats to a point south on the horizon, stops, and returns north again. I, of course, know that the sun doesn't move, planet earth moves. What an illusion my lens provides! I am seeking to capture this illusion with a photo of the sun breaking this horizon every day of the year.
In the meantime I started posting a picture each morning on my Facebook page. The list of friends and family members who look forward to my post each morning keeps expanding. What a great opportunity to provide a nostalgic view, a weather report, and a thought or inspiration for the day! I find it curious how we all seem to be moved by the wonder of Mother Nature. A commonality all of humanity shares in support of the notion "we are more similar than different."
